Case study Ping Network Solutions The Challenge The ability to effectively and efficiently operationalize a cloud security trial Ping Network Solutions is a Cisco Gold Partner headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland. Established in 2010, its founders wanted to create a world- class, Cisco-focused systems integrator. Today, the company designs, deploys and supports managed services for a range of Cisco network infrastructure and security solutions, including Cisco Umbrella, a cloud-delivered security service that secures internet access and cloud app usage anywhere users go. Ping serves customers in multiple industry sectors, including oil and gas, construction, legal, finance, transport, education and fast-moving consumer goods. It had seen growing demand from its customer base for a cloud security solution that could help address the rise in sophistication and volume of cyber-based threats and the stringent data protection requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). "We've seen a marked increase in business over the last few years with GDPR coming into force and customers focusing on data privacy and the rise in ransomware and other cyber attacks," said Alister Richmond, technical director at Ping Network Solutions. In parallel, Ping wanted to move away from PowerPoint presentations and static data sheets when introducing Cisco Umbrella to customers or prospects. They needed the ability to show security threats in the context of customers' own production systems in real time. Objective Ping Network Solutions wanted a different way to prove the value of Cisco Umbrella to clients using their production environments to contextualize the true value, features and benefit of the solution. This would allow the company to shorten the sales cycle for Umbrella and build recurring revenues for its security business.
