Case Study Cisco Public that we only needed to modify our existing DNS settings made it that much easier to implement." ipet also takes advantage of Cisco Umbrella's full proxy mode for visibility into all of its traffic, including encrypted traffic. Umbrella integrates secure web gateway, cloud-delivered firewall, DNS-layer security, and cloud access security broker (CASB) functionality for the most effective protection against threats. "In order to inspect threats more deeply, including encrypted traffic, we needed to use full proxy mode and SSL decryption. Controlling cloud app usage was also necessary from a shadow IT response perspective," said Mr. Hirumoto. Benefits and future plans ipet has strengthened its security posture with Cisco Umbrella. They can now block requests from malicious sources (domain, IP, URL) prior to a connection being established, and they see 500 to 3,500 blocks per month. As part of its daily security operations, ipet sends its logs to a SIEM and utilizes the Investigate feature to dig deeper into specific threats. Umbrella Investigate gives the most complete view of the relationships and evolution of internet domains, IPs, and malware — helping to pinpoint attackers' infrastructures and predict future threats. "I was struck by the quality of Cisco Security's threat intelligence," shared Mr. Hirumoto. "Further, the fact these services are offered on a cloud basis and help me to a utomate the operation process simply resonated with me." Mr. Hirumoto is now working towards designing an even more comprehensive security framework by leveraging the knowledge gained through his experience with Cisco Umbrella. "Here at ipet, we are striving to craft a highly advanced security framework with low operating costs. In order to achieve this, I would like to not only incorporate log usage via SIEMs, but also want to link individually- operated endpoint and network security products and then automate various sequenced workflows," says Mr. Hirumoto. "Looking ahead, I trust that Cisco will continue to maintain the high quality of its threat intelligence, and also look forward to seeing what Cisco Threat Response and Cisco SecureX will bring to the table." "I was struck by the quality of Cisco Security's threat intelligence. Further, the fact these services are offered on a cloud basis and help me to automate the operation process simply resonated with me."
