(1110R) The impact Reclaimed time reinvested in growth While many clients are unaware of Umbrella's rapid deployment when it happens, they quickly notice the results, Lakiotis says, "In 99 percent of deployments, we see huge decreases in malicious traffic and employee internet browsing." The decreases have netted significant operational efficiency gains, including a decrease in overall ticket volume by 15 percent. In fact, one of Symmetric's regional retail clients saw a decrease in ticket volume by approximately 30 percent. The average number of machines shipped to Symmetric for malware remediation per month have dropped from five to zero. Umbrella's network usage visibility helped another client – a high-turnover call center with multiple sluggish machines and frequent malware infections – gain insight into pervasive quality issues with its VoIP solution. Using Umbrella for MSPs, Symmetric was able to provide the client with specific data regarding the surprisingly high number of dating, adult and other inappropriate sites being accessed by employees. "Umbrella was able to provide detailed data regarding staff online activity, which the call center had initially dismissed as a potential risk area," says Lakiotis. "Learning that one employee had racked up 1,400 hits to adult sites in two days equipped the client with the data needed to address and resolve the situation. Ultimately, it resulted in greatly improved voice quality on callers' headsets and we've not received a single service request due to voice quality, so Umbrella is helping them and it's helping us." Also helpful to Symmetric's proactivity mission has been Umbrella for MSPs' positive impact on its firewall and antivirus solution. "Because Umbrella blocks malware, botnets and phishing attacks before they reach the agent, we've seen a reduction in alerts elsewhere in the security stack. Firewalls will filter any threats that breach the network, but the less they have to filter, the better they perform," says Lakiotis. "Cisco Umbrella for MSPs has become a permanent part of our offering," says Lakiotis, whose team has come to particularly appreciate Umbrella's roaming client to protect Windows or Mac OS X devices outside the network perimeter without sacrificing performance. "Roaming client is literally one of the best things we have ever implemented because it allows us to protect our clients when they are off the network," he adds. With so much proactivity at work, Symmetric Engineering Group has reduced infections and support calls while automating processes that position the company to scale effectively and efficiently. Says Lakiotis, "Cisco Umbrella gives us the confidence to take on new and bigger clients, along with the bandwidth to support growth."
